I only say what is written on the Thunder and Lightnings page. Tis a nice story though. :)

I shall endeavour to find the article I mentioned. It might have been a letter in Aeroplane Monthly. Bee Beamont was a regular contributor. Sadly he passed away in November 2001 so it couldn't have been that recent.

Bee Beamont was the test pilot so he'll know what happened better than anyone.

Though I'd be surprised if the author of Thunder and Lightnings hadn't taken such an article into account.
