Not realizing there are tiedowns right in front of the restaurant, we park a ways off on the ramp. But it's for the best, as there are some neat airplanes to see here. I love this Ercoupe! Beautiful!! Gimme!!

We descend like locusts on this fascinating bipe, now joined by another planeload of members and guests from Caldwell. I'm thinking "Waco", then realize it's too small. Owner is nowhere to be seen... damn, it's just beautiful.

I found out later it's a '77 Skybolt, with some sort of huge Soviet-made radial on it. Remarkable (for more info, Google "N5FR"... the engine is listed as ":reciprocating", but we saw Cyrillic plates on the engine, with "CCCP" featured prominently).

Would've missed it if we'd parked closer to the restaurant. Richard Bach would say "See? I told you..."  ;D

There's a small but very cool museum here; one of the yard queens is this imposing Sikorsky RH-53D Sea Stallion... more on that, and the others... after we eat.
