Golden Age Air Museum- part 5 (last)

Postby beaky » Fri Sep 01, 2006 9:26 pm

Moving around to the other side of the hangar, we see another valuable artifact, which may someday provide the basis for a working airplane: the fuselage of a Cessna AW!! I didn't really know how big this plane was!!

As promised, the office of the Cadet. Not sure what the purpose of the "Mixture/Gear" stickers is... ???

And here's that Link again...this is an old-school instrument sim; no exterior view of any kind once that lid is shut.

How about this LeRhone- immaculate!! Wow!! These guys have an old replica Fokker triplane fuselage that they hope to restore, and they plan to hang this on it.

And this OX-5 will power that beautiful Jenny once she's completed...note the little oild doors on the rocker arm pivots: although a very nice engine for its time, after 2 hours of flight the pilot would have to land and oil these points, or all hell would break loose. Not really a problem, because most Jenny flights were-and still are- brief.

Thanks for joining me on this little trip into the past... expect more photos this year when I revisit 8N1 to see the planes flying and maybe take a ride in the Bird!! ;D

Maybe the mixture and gear stickers were to remind pilots from technologically lesser kites?

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!
