Shades of grey at the seaside...

Postby F3Hadlow » Sat Jul 29, 2006 5:34 pm

I visited Sunderland International Airshow today. This is my local show so unusually I could take a relaxed attitude.
It's a good thing I can because it's a place of much fustration for the photogapher in me. The display line is always way too far away for almost every fixed wing type (fast jets for sure) which means me and my 'small' lens are struggling to get decent shots (bar the Red Arrows who I change to a better location for).
Add to that todays weather which started off fine but clouded over rapidly and you get some photos that I'm not all that happy with but here are a few anyway...

And how small is your 'small' lens?  f2.8 400mm or something like that?  I'm envious  8)

Elvington will be my first opportunity to play with my long lens (f4.5-5.6 100-300mm) but it'll be fun to see what it can do.

Two Royal Navy Lynxs. The team is better known as the Black Cats.

Thanks chaps, it's nice to know I was able to scratch a few decent shots out of the day! ::) :)

Nope, it's only the same length as yours in fact and I use a converter on my 80-200 f2.8L so it's not a monster lens at all.

Now I really am looking forward to trying this thing out at Elvington!  I'll have to settle for f4.5 but hopefully it'll be a sunny day.  Elvington is one of the few shows where the sun is behind the audience during a flypast.

Nope, I figured a second hand Canon was a better investment than a new Sigma  ;D

Nice shots. Did you see the nice in cockpit footage from Andy Offer's Extra on the ITV North East news?
