Diamond Aircraft D-Jet.

hi guys,

the D-Jet was presented to costumers and associates at Diamond-Fest this past weekend, on sunday (today) they did a fly-by and later on parked along side the other Diamond aircraft already on display.

the D-jet is the new generation of VLJ (Very Light Jet) it will sit five plus the pilot, and will have the comforts of a small business jet, with the simplicity, looks and operational costs of a Diamond. the D-Jet is the smallest VLJ yet on the market, and the fastest of its class. of course, as any other Diamond Aircraft model, it is entirely built on Composites and light weight metals.

for those of you attending Oshkosh, she will be parked at the Aeroshell square, and a mockup will be on display at the Diamond Aircraft booth.

this was a sort of ice sculpture they had at the Katana Kafe during lunch, it looked better when it was on display shame the end it met...melting away under the hot summer weather.

that video's been hardwired into my brain they show it allt he time to every one so i forgot sorry

watch the press as a lot of journalists were around today...also theyw ill be around at Airventure...i think this year's EAA meeting will proove to be an interesting experience and almost historic in new age aviation....

Thanks for posting them and I must get down to London one of these days, I always seem to get as far as Orangeville, meet up with some fellow aviators, have a glass or two of wobbly pop and thats as far as it goes LOL

Oh, so now I get it....Diamonds are good enough to go to London for, but when I lived in the  Orangeville area, there wasn't a good enough reason to go there....Gee thanks Doug !  :-/

Aw shucks Ken I used to fly into Orangeville, Buttonville, Maple, Kingcity, Hamilton, Toronto Island Airport all the time from here.
I am sure I must have seen you many times and I think the airports were a lot busier as general aviation was quite active until the insurance company's ruined it.
There was not to many weekends during the year you could not find something going on at a small bug smasher field.
With the price of fuel today though, the cost of new aeroplanes, insurance, etc. we may have seen the last of those days.
The young people today should be thankful of people like you and Doug and everyone else here at SimV for posting shots of aircraft they may never see again or of airfields they may never see again.
It is folks like the one's here at SimV that help keep the Grass Roots Flying alive at many Bug Smasher Fields, but once the interest drops, the gate proceeds fall short to pay for the participants, the vendors profits fall then these small airshows will be few and far between and we will have lost some heritage and history again.

So, let us all attend as many airshows as we can, buy the odd hamburger, pop and ball cap and perhaps our enthusiasm will spread, maybe it will become so contagious that we can revitalize the interest in Grass Roots Flying and General Aviation as a whole.

uh oh, you've hurt kens feelings hahaha

anywa, on another note, i had a chance to look at the mock model of the Jet today...they only made the fuselage so the interior could be shown and so on (as the prototype is all foil-wrap inside with telemtry equipment and wires all over the place) it looks very comfy, sits 5 including the pilot and has limited space for storage (a small compartment right above the engine and behind the cabin, and the standdard diamond compartment in the nose) it looks comfy and nice. the flight deck is all glass, and you have NO idea how simple it is! i was amazed! a kid could fly it!

im sorry i can't show you a pic as i wasnt allowed to take one int he first place...but for those of you going to Airventure you will be able to see first hand what i am talking about. i think this is the future in single engine flying hahahahaha

on Doug's last reply...i think he is totaly right, and that can be seen now. CYXU London International Airfest was cancelled for this year, and next year's is already on steep decent and overspeeding. i think this sucks royally because if we are not aware of history then we will end up destroying ourselves. what i mean by tis is that if you learn to fly on an all glass cockpit like that of a cirrus or diamond, and then for some reason u need to fly an analog plane and (insert diety of choice here)-forbid something went wrong while flying, it would be a major S.N.A.F.U as the pilot would not know as much about analog as one of 'us' is like learning to drive on an automatic car when you're young, and drive automatic for your entire life, and then having to drive a standard whe you're old.

sometimes i wish i had been born int he 50's 60's or 70's...but with days like yesterday im glad im where i am right now.
