Summer Air Show 2

Postby Hagar » Mon Jul 03, 2006 12:45 pm

Today's theme was air racing & homebuilts. It was also a celebration of the Popular Flying Association's 60th anniversary.

The little Currie Wot opened the show, representing all homebuilders.

Excellent!! Nice pix of some "real" flying machines... ;D
Love that Comper... I'm not surprised at all that it's fast. The tail reminds me of a Hughes speed design, and putting the wing right down on the fuselage, with that really nice fairing, certainly helps reduce drag. And that's a racer's wing for sure.
But I wouldn't want to try to land it. Might as well close your eyes... ;D

Here. Don't get excited, it was built in 1938 and probably lasted little longer. It resulted in the Stirling special very tall undercarriage...

Well I did never knew about that. :P Do you suppose it's findings from that which required them to add the extra long under carriage to the full sized model?

Edit: Just read what you said probably. So no need to answer to me. I've been drinking... ::) ;D ;)
