RC flying (this sucks)

Postby SkyNoz » Sat May 13, 2006 5:59 pm

Well just went flying on a nice sarturday morning. I haven't been flying for a month or so. Putting everything together and getting the model prepped for flying.  :)

1st flight, ran up motor did control surface checks and the usual motor tunning. Had the motor leaned a bit, the motor quit during flight and had to do a dead stick landing, did a successful landing all went well, lasted bout 3 min. flight.

2nd flight, repeated the procedure, got up did some inverted flying, some snaps and spins and a touch and go. The usual flying meant for this model. Engine died again came in dead.

3rd flight, was thinking the third time is a charm, was doing well with flying aircraft looked very well trimed, contiued what I wanted to do in the 1st 2nd flight. Did one very low inverted pass that rocked, smooth and precise, then a knife edge.

...okay landing, hmmm went dead again... looking like it was gonna be a normal to easy landing. Wind, heading down the runway and landing into the wind, at bout 5 knt. headwind, with a 15 mph approach speed, i come flying in with the engine dead. So it's very difficult... I come about half foot off the ground and the aircraft is dropping quickly then i pull up thenose to smoothen the landing. Then the usuall happens as a I flare the model TOO MUCH, I stall the aircraft and had a hard landing which results in a busted landing gear.

here are the 3 pics i took of my plane, showing the dreaded landing gear damage, hysterically enough this happened like the 2nd time. Okay well down to business, this will keep me busy for the next few days rebuilding and re-egineering the main gear.

Don't re-engineer it, land softer.........if you need to do anything, use the pieces that came out and if need be, add a bit of glass cloth to the inside with cyano.....light cloth, not 4 oz,... 2 at the most but preferrably .6oz.....

Why did you crash land when you could have just landed.  It would have saved you time and money.

No, I would not recomend crashing
