Sunday spotting in the industrial wasteland-2

Postby beaky » Sun May 07, 2006 4:42 pm

Last bunch from today (unless I decide to head out for some sunset shots... hmmmm...)

I seem doomed to never get a good shot of a Lufthansa 747... sorta snuck up on me after I moved to a different spot.

My consolation prize: note the airplane in the distance turning after takeoff from 11.

I really like this shot:

Another ExpressJet bird:

Here come the French...

Tried to get airplane and moon in the same shot.

Umm rotty, how the hell does a 747-430 sneak up on you? ??? They shake my house and they're still 20 miles out, and they're still quite noticable while in the pattern.
Nice shots though.

Well, I had moved so a bldg blocked my view (and a great deal of the noise)... standing near a highway overpass, on a road with lots of truck and bus traffic, even on Sunday... Heard that distinctive whistling, and looked up just in time  to get a shot without zooming out. D'oh...

Still haven't found the perfect place... too many buildings and overhead wires around here for unimpeded viewing.  Wequahic Park lies right under the approach to (less-often used) Rwy 11; big open field, but yesterday there were at least 3 soccer games underway there.
But there are plenty of places to get a good look at the belly of an airliner as it comes in...
