NJ Aviation Hall of Fame & Museum part 5

Postby beaky » Sat Jan 07, 2006 1:13 pm

There are two gate guardians here at the NJAHOFAM: an old USCG Sea King, and... well, honestly I'm not sure exactly what that is. It's not a 208, or even a 207...not a Porter. either. Would you believe I didn't bother to look closer for a logo? I actually took this shot last, as I was leaving: had to get going.  I remember thinking it was an early 208, but that can't be right... it's too short. I'm sure somebody out there can ID this one...

Here's a new arrival; still on a trailer. I wonder what it is?

OK, German markings... I'm afraid my knowledge of non-US fighter jets from this period is weak, but I'm guessing East German, and I'm thinking MiG...

Sure enough, there are Cyrillic markings in there... not much else, though. Stripped to the bone. Don't know if the museum has the instruments or not, but I was tempted to pick the canopy up off the ground and put it on... it has potential; shouldn't be neglected like this.

Something for the Minimalists: I've seen pix of these; I think it's a kit. Fun, or insanity? you decide...

Next: More aircraft!!

Woops; you're right. S-62 (or HH-52A), not S-61.

Yeah... the hump behind the cockpit would indicate a 21, right? Just saw a cool doc on the 21 yesterday (Military Channel); an amazing machine.

N1601L is registered as a Lockheed 402-2 Bushmaster. Can't say I've ever heard of it.

Well, duh. Should've thought of that. Lockheed made a foray into Cessna's territory at one point with that bird, and I think a non-cargo variant... sort of like a 206. Can't find any info on them now, though- even in Jane's.
