COAM Part 3

I didn't make a note of the mfrs., etc. of these, but they're fascinating items. The gun is actually a camera gun (no, not a gun camera), used for aerial shooting training. When the cadets pulled the trigger, it'd take a picture showing the accuracy of the burst.
Below it is a well-crafted model of a basic airplane, showing the various parts... most flight schools today have something like it laying around.

This is a new favorite of mine: a Peel Glider Boat, made to be towed behind a motorboat and released at about 1000 feet. That sounds like a lot of fun... I wonder how this airframe would do with a Rotax or something hung on it...Peel made 30 of these in college Point, Queens before going belly-up due to the Great Depression.

I wish I had a better shot of either of these two... very fine examples of a Republic P47 and Waco CG-4A combat glider, both built on long Island. The glider is huge!! You can sort of make out the cutaway section that reveals dummies in full Airborne regalia crammed inside... one can get a good look at that and the great nose art from a walkway overlooking the main floor.

This relic needs no explanation...

Me too. I cant figure out a practical use for it. ???

Some lovely photos there Rotty. Very interesting. You seem to like the same things as me. ;)

We had something similar in the clubhouse when I worked there back in the early 60s. It was mounted on a turntable with a standard RAF magnetic compass in the centre. I used it for teaching new pupils the basics of navigation. The boss automatically assumed I knew that & trusted me to do it properly. ::) I wonder whatever happened to it?

That glider boat sounds like fun! I wish they still made them. Nice shots so far, keep 'em coming. :)

Wonderful shots...very very nice ;)

That glider boat looks interesting, I know you can be towed by a boat on water using a hand glider.  Just the same I wonder if the glider boat will ever make a come back?

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
