First Flight

Postby EGNX » Tue Sep 06, 2005 1:20 pm

This was my first ever flying (taster) lesson at Leicester Aerodrome (EGBG). I came on very lucky day because the Red Bull Matadors were at the aerodrome and did a fantastic aerobatics display for us.

Getting strapped in tightly so we can do some aerobatics.

AND..... Takeoff, on a very hot, clear and beautiful day.

The flight consisted of a trip to, and around rutland water which is next to RAF Cottesmore. Luckily it was a sunday so we didn't have to worry about any harriers in the area. On are way back towards the aerodrome we did a some aerobatics; barrel roll, stall turn and of corse... loop the loop! We then flew by the aerodrome and took a short trip over Leicester city centre and then came back and landed! The best part was that i flew all the way (except. landing and aerobatics)

it was FANTASTIC!!!

Sorry for poor photo quality my parents own a very crap camera.

Excellent. Sounds like a nice trip. ;)

You were lucky to see the Red Bull team. I saw them perform twice over the last weekend & was very impressed. Check out my Biggin Hill & Shoreham topics.

Outstanding!! Intro flight and aerobatics in one lesson?! Wow!! So the instructor didn't let you try a loop, even? Too bad- they're easy. Never flown aerobatics in a Cessna; that must've been a blast, like stunt-driving in an old London taxi, or something like that (only much safer!!). I know the 'bats are modified slightly for aerobatic flight, but it's sort of strange to see that... 152s are so "vanilla".
Your folks may not have a very good camera, but I hope you're thankful they were there... I can imagine me at that age asking my old man to take me (and pay!) for flying lessons:   :D!!!
You're a lucky kid... :)
