A nice day out EMA

Postby Craig. » Sat Aug 06, 2005 12:36 pm

Well it was a nice day out to the GP collection. However before i start sorting those photos out i thought i would share some from the viewing park of east midlands airport. The aircraft here are in an awful condition, if i could afford to get there every day i would have volunteered to clean them inside out.
Sorry for the quality i had to severely reduce the quality of them to get the size down.

Although I only work just down the road from EMA, I've not been to the Aeropark since back in May. It is a shame to see those aircraft in such a state, but the site is not funded by anyone (apart from the visitors who pay a

Nice one Craig.

I've just been reading all the complaints about EMA being renamed Nottingham East Midlands Airport when it's in Leicestershire & Nottingham already has an airport. It seems to be a new trend to confuse passengers as to where they're actually travelling to. One person had a good point, why not rename England to France & done with? ;)

I'd still like to know what was wrong with the original name, Castle Donington. ::)

It's ok - here's the real MK732 http://www.angelfire.com/sd2/spitfirefactory/MK732.htm. I expect this was used somewhere in Holland - presumably replacing the real MK732 when it went to be restored...

Was it ever called Castle Donington Airport or has it always been East Midlands? I do agree about the name, it is miles outside Nottingham and you need to use the worst stretch of road in the whole East Midlands (the A453) to get from the City to the airport. Anyone visitors making that journy on a weekday would leave the country and never come back!
