Tacits Airventure Pt.2: Warbirds

Postby TacitBlue » Wed Aug 03, 2005 10:02 pm

Here we go again.

Image
3 B-17s and a B-26 (?)

Image
A close up of a B-17. Its grainy because my camera only has 3x zoom, so I cropped it down.

Image
A Spitfire. Same thing, I had to crop it down. Sorry Ozzy, this was the best shot I could get of the spit.

Image
Something Russian... A Yak of some kind?

Image
I don't know what this one is either.

Well thats it for now. I have several more warbird pics, and I'll post some of them once I get time to work on them a little- they are a tad to dark, but can be fixed.

Nice! In that last shot, looks as if there are 2 USMC Harriers, I wasn't aware they had two there...do you know anything about that?

The Spitfire is the only Tr.9 in the US, TE308. She is based in Aspen and you can go flying in her for the right fee ;)
The canopy on the Yak is definately NOT original........ odd that it is carrying a mixture of French and Russian markings as well.....

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Possibly a T-33 canopy as its a 2 seater conversion. Are you sure its not a Normandie Niemen scheme Mark?

As for the Harriers, I'm sure as one was in the flying display, the other would have been a "spare" in case the other went unservicable...

Not bad for x3 zoom. Not bad at all.

It's a Yak 3. http://www.classicwings.com/sales.htm

thats a T-28 Talon. if u want a nice SimModel go get Pigglet's talon seris 4 FS9 and FS2002

The T-28 is the Trojan. The Talon is the T-38 twin-engined jet trainer.

PS. By including images in your quotes you're tipping the thread over the limit.

Thanks, Tacit- already so many Airventure shots, but i wanted more!! ;D
You're doing OK with 3x zoom; I just got one with 10x optical, and it's not worth it half the time, very hard to hold it steady enough (although I like it).

French Vichy Pilots Joined the Russians later to fly against the Germans. So that's maybe the ab=nswer for the French/Russian markings...

Great pics Tacit!
