True 'dat, Charlie (I was totally kidding), and to Hagar: I didn't get to meet Bob (I was off to check out something else, actually, when I passed by him and the Spitfire), but he's a fave of mine, too. Did you ever see him do his airshow thing (I missed out, unfortunately)?

Not in person but my brother-in-law has an old promo film of Bob Hoover demonstrating his famous Shrike Commander* routine. During the display he pours iced tea from a flask into a glass while doing a perfect barrel roll - without spilling a drop. Unbelievable display. :o

Brother-in-law worked for Miles (R & D) Ltd many years ago & the company was involved with importing the aircraft into the UK at the time. He kept threatening to have it transferred to DVD but I don't know if he ever did.

PS. I think this was Bob Hoover's personal aircraft which is now in a museum. http://www.avweb.com/newswire/9_42a/briefs/185860-1.html
