Those chain-link fences can be a darned nuisance. Mind you, they're better than the 10 foot high solid monstrosities all around Gatwick these days. >:(


You should see the 3 foot high barbed wire fence around Cranwell Doug - v high security :)

Hi Charlie. Nice to know some things haven't changed. I visited RAF Cranwell once. That was back in 19 canteen when I had a swim in the pool. As I recall I got my ATC swimming certificate. We were on annual camp at Swinderby just down the road. LOL ;)

I had my first trip in a Chipmunk on that camp. 8)
I expect Swinderby is closed down now.

PS. Is the pool still there too?

I expect Swinderby is closed down now.

Yep - It hasn't been dug up yet though, lots of gravel there apparently. The hangers are now used for antiques fares, the trade ones that cost about

Very good photos....but to me the 747 seems to be biger than this An-124....but I think its just ilusion.... ???

The AN-124s wingspan is a almost a full 29ft larger than that of a 747
