Howdy.
Can i ask a few questions. Firstly what type of camera was that picture taken with digital or film? Now that sort of effect looks like it was taken with film and scanned in as the blur happens to me alot (and because i have some really good photos i am considering investing in a film scanner) if you know someone with one or have one yourself use that. Secondly, its huge if you resize it to a smaller size it should look alot clearer. A picture really doesnt need to be any bigger than 1600x1200 and more so 1024x720. Please dont take this as me saying the picture is bad i am just trying to give some advice much of which i have learned from from our very own Doug and Ken, and other members included.
The picture itself is really a nice picture. I just think with a bit of work it could be alot better. The key thing is you took time to post it.

I took this with a digital. It's not the best one there is and I had to zoom all the way (even though it looks closer from the naked eye). I see what you are saying and I would resize it but the only "editing program" if you would call it that is MS Paint, lol. I haven't tried it but I will try to resize it on that next time. I've tried resizing pics before and tried posting them on SimV, but it was always to large, even when it was so small you couldn't see it.  :'(

Try to get a demo of PSP7 or something like that its well worth the time. Which digital camera are you using. Its clearly got the ability to take some good pictures, you just need to play with the settings a little.

the camera is a really nice one. Certainly much better in terms of quality than mine.  In cases of shots like this i do think your 3x zoom can make it a little more difficult so you done a great job to get this shot. I have found that my 6x zoom has helped on a few shots but not so much in others. There are a few people here who are great to ask advice from. I know we have a few enthusiasts who take their cameras everywhere. And i think at least 1 maybe two professional photographers.

Well done Tsunami. You might like to try IrfanView from the link on the Upload Images page. Although I have PSP7 I use IrfanView for resizing/cropping & basic post-processing (if necessary) of most of the photos I post in this forum. I find it quicker & more convenient.

Composition first.........Nice shot and excellent subject....
but,..........
From what I see here, I think the link to the full size image only takes you to an enlarged version of the reduced thumbnail.......this image is pixellated and doesn't look at all like one shot from a 3 megapixel camera........unless of course you shot this with

That's beautiful rifleman! Is that taken from Vancouver Island? I think the digital zoom does appear blurry compared to optical zoom. I took some pictures on optical and they seem to be more clear  ;D

I see...well I just found out that you can edit/resize/ and all that stuff on your pic on a program that came with the camera  ::) I managed to resize one of them and get the settings that are withing the forum limits so I'm gonna try to get some pics up...hopefully  ;D

I'm glad someone beat me to it (two in this case), but I can't stress enough to NEVER use your digital zoom.  And for those of you shopping for a camera,  pay no attention to the digital zoom number.  It may sound impressive, but you'll get much more satisfaction from the optical.  (Also look for manual focus as opposed to autofocus, if possible!)

In short, the more you can do with your camera manually, the broader range of shots you'll be able to take!
Great edit, Bob.
