My dad bought a new scanner a while ago so I've just been playing around with it a right now. Then I remembered a picture of an aircraft I promised I'd show you guys.

This is Orenda Engines engine test bed or the "Super Lanc" as it was often refered to. It is a standard Avro Lancaster that was converted to test duty after the war. It was powered by two Rolls Royce Merlins and two Orenda turbojets. It was tragically destroyed in a hanger fire. It was later replaced by a B-47 on loan from the US, which was used as the test bed for the famed PS-13 Iroquois: power plant for the Avro Arrow. In it's glory days, the "Super Lanc" frightened more than its fair share of American fighter pilots in New York state; unused to seeing a jet bomber fly over head.
