This is the way to fly

Easter Monday at Shoreham. I spotted this on my way to breakfast at my favourite spot on the airport. Looked interesting so I stopped for a chat - as you do. (I'll talk to anyone given half a chance.) The owner was only too happy to let me take some pics while he finished assembling his pride & joy. He was about to take the nice young lady for a flip. Nice work if you can get it. She told me she has a PPL but this was her first time in the front seat of this little thing.


This is Dave Grint, the owner. A jolly nice chap. He built the aircraft himself about 10 years ago.


He asked if I wanted to try the front seat. "Thank you very much. Don't mind if I do." I said. A tad tricky to get in but I managed it without breaking anything. This the forward view - just like sitting in a modern sailplane like the Grob I flew in Florida a few years ago.


After taking a few more shots I left them to it. Had a nice breakfast & returned to watch them go.




Up & away.


And finally a safe return about an hour later.


A good time was had by all. Maybe I can cadge a trip in it one day.

PS. Like Fozzer I could get interested in this.

Strange little aircraft. But this seems to be a cheap way to get into the air,doesn't it?

Thanks. Are you talking about the plane or the young lady?

The plane is a STREAK SHADOW with a ROTAX 582 engine. Dave told me where he got the kit but I forgot.

No Doug, it's a pretty tight fit but extremely comfortable. I didn't see much space for luggage. Somehow I don't think it would suit Mark's Pa-in-law.

I almost got up in one of those a few years ago at Cumbernauld. Young eagles day or something like that, anyway I ended up in a chippie for 20 minutes  8)
