I almost got a shot like that once over North Bay, Ontario...but I couldn't talk the pilot to turn out the cockpit lights for a second so I could take the pic through the canopy of the T-Bird.

Just too many reflections.

His decision probably had something to do with the Sqdn CO flying 150 yds off the port wing.  ::)

The aurorae are truly spectacular once you get into the clear skies above all the light pollution at ground level.
