Mammatus clouds

Postby BigTruck » Fri Jun 28, 2013 9:26 pm

Had some big storms rumble through this evening right before sunset and they left behind a nice display of mammatus clouds lit up by the lowering sun.

Nice photos. I took some of a similar display over my friend's house a couple of years ago. First time I'd seen this type of cloud. Not quite such dramatic lighting though.

Excellent description, Matt!... ... ...!

I love watching cloud formations, but that photographed set is a new one on me!

Mammatus: A collection of Mammaries?

Amazing shot!

Paul... :D ...!

P.S...I think there is a Web Site somewhere, which encourages folks to send in their sky (clouds, etc,) photographs, for reference to various types!

Thanks guys. We get "mooned" frequently here in the south, these clouds almost always follow a big storm. I have never seen them as defined as these though, and I'm sure the time of the day helped with the sun setting.
