General discussion for CFS - the original European Air War Combat Flight Simulator

CFS 1

The flight sim that got me into FLight Sims. I still have it and its on my latest computer along with CFS2.  Still debating about re-installing CFS3.  I wish that MS could recreate an updated CFS with the magic of CFS1.

CFS4 was going to be an updated version of CFS1 in that it was to be based in a similar arena.
Unfortunately, the project was cancelled and I didn't like CFS2 or CFS3 because they were updated too much. I didn't want a game that was that much 'improved'.
If they'd simply given us better graphics, more scenery/aircraft, and a foolproof way to control the cheats online, it would have been better.
Now, there's so much to be aware of when you're playing, there's less time to actually have fun doing it.
Maddox, the IL2 series producers, will soon be releasing a version in the CFS1 arena which may make a lot of you happy.
It will include all my wish-list but with more flight controls and flight models.
It'll be too many flight controls for a simple old skwirrell to cope with.
I'll be hangin around for 2010, when CFS1 comes back into fashion.

:D

Thanks for the reply and info. Most likely I'll be hanging around also in 2010 still playing from time to time that old vintage wine, CFS1.   :)

Doncha love finding a cheapo wine that tastes better than most of the more expensive ones.

Hey guys, some times its just nice to eat a hotdog istead of a steak for lunch. Some times you prefer a Beer over wine. Simplicity over complexity.LoL

Yes! I agree, CFS1 has a place in the Sim World.
