Postby netjunky » Tue Apr 04, 2006 9:54 pm

hi

was looking for a dp editor but never found one that worked (i had one a while back but since lost it. if u could leave a link i would apreciate it

also if anyone who knows of the coordinates of the fjords(that i cant remember any more) would be great

best if i describe it the battle starts u off on the top of the cliff and u get to the fjord and dive in all the fighting takes place there most anyway, the cliffs just about straight up

Greetings,
If you try to open the stock aircraft DP file you will get a major error as the readme file tells you that it wasnt designed for that.  As for a mdl read error, if the file is greater than 70K(for CFS1) the file has most likely been scasmed(mine are so they it will come up as a mdl error).  It may also indicate that the file you are looking for isnt in the mdl folder.  I would suggest you ensure that the model name of the file in aircraft.cfg is the same as the model in the model folder and the model name is the same in the model.cfg file and they are the same for your DP file.  ie:  P-39D.DP, model=P-39D, P-39D.mdl

Have fun

The only thing I can suggest is to uninstall and then re-install it.

This has never happened to me but I am aware it's happened to some colleagues over the years and is normally caused by a driver conflict somewhere. It was prevalent during the directX 8.0 series.

If this doesn't help, please describe where the crash is occurring and any soft / hardware installed since it last ran properly.

Also, might help to start a new thread for this question. ;)

[edit: There has never been a patch for CFS1, since it came out in December '98.]

If you want to change the the Dp through a Dp editor, you need to route it to the Dp file and not the MDL.

Dp file is where the weapon location and damage properties are located.

Good luck

I just got an XP and I installed CFS1 but it crashes frequently and just blanks out and asks if it wants me to report the problem to microsoft , which never helps cuz it was like a million times this happened and i still recieved no relpy from microsoft. It just blanks out. Ive tried to reinstall it a few times but it just keeps happening, especially when im in campaign modes just before you score a kill. its really nerve racking. isnt therer anything else i can do besides reinstalling because it doesnt work

Its probably a video card and Window XP lack of compatibly. Play around with the video setting of the game and see if that helps.

Defract your PC as well. If that does not work try buying a new Video card.

Tko.
It can be a number o things but most likely, as James says, is a conflict.

Could you please start a new, separate, thread and post details of the hardware in the system you're trying to run it from?
