What are your 3 favourite fighter planes?  This includes ground attack/close support fighters, night fighters, single and multi-engine fighters, interceptors, etc. They don

My 3 favourite WWII fighter planes are; the Hawker Hurricane, the Grumman Wildcat and the Mitsubishi Zero.

I like the Hurricane because it looks both rugged and workmanlike. While it is out-manoeuvred by its stable mate the Spitfire, it still handles very well and had a reputation for bringing its pilots home and for being forgiving in flight. While not as sleek as the Spitfire, at the end of the day, I just love the way it looks.

The Wildcat, not as manoeuvrable as its adversary the Zero, it was very strong, in fact Grumman was nicknamed

WW1:
Sopwith Camel
Sopwith Snipe
Fokker Dr-1
WW2:
Hawker Hurricane
P-51 Mustang
...and a toss-up between the Spitfire (any single-seater from Mark V on) and Grumman Hellcat.

However, if you wish to give me most any of the others in good condition, I'd very much like them, too! ;D

1) Spitfire
2) Erm... that's it really. I could say the Hurricane's my 2nd because I fly it in CFS but, in real life, the Spitfire is my favourite aircraft of any era. Always has been. It's the reason I started flying CFS, even though it's outflown by the hawker and P51. The wing shape is so sensual (don't like the clipped wing variants).
3) Mozzy (bearing in mind the above).

All GroundCrew and AvHistory planes...of coarse. ;D But I must say that I love my Galland Me-262 that can be downloaded at Netwings until the 1% model comes out.

This aircraft flies to the actual specs, plus it has all the effects including rare and hard to find Jumo sounds and wing vapors that turn on and off at different speeds. It took me forever...but I also have the flap lift and drag to spec. The only thing I couldn't do is to make the engine catch fire or have it spit a turbine blade occationally, especially when you crack the throttle hard.

And if you don't tear your wings off....your leading edge has Mach effects that can be seen on Multiplayer.

That's only a few things that I can think of...wait until MAW comes out...It will change CFS3 as we know it. The plane airfiles will be better than ever to the specs. That 4.0 Spread from what I heard can't be beat!  8)

Oh yes...in real life....my favorite is the FW-190 D-9. Read Kurt Tanks run in with the squad P-51Ds. This bird was better than what the allies had at the time and she could out run and climb anything the Allies had. I was very impressed with the test flight records of this bird.

But for exciting reading...I like the Me-163. Those guys had a lot of guts riding that flying TNT. But not one...has ever been shot down in combat....It was too fast. Maybe the Allies didn't have to.....It usually blew up on there own.

My 3rd was the Me-262.

My 4th was the Me-109k-14. Galland changed his mind about getting rid of the 109 after flying it..."The Last of the Last."

With a lack of gas and trained pilots....the planes themselves went up against incredible odds and Germany ALMOST turned the tide and dominated the Airwar of WWII. Not bad for a country who declared war on the world! Oh yes...1943-45 Pilots only had 10 hrs of training and they were sent up against the skilled Allies. It wasn't the German planes...but the pilots that were bad. In a usual Dogfight it was usually 4 Axis planes against 6 Allied Planes.

Boy this kind of post has been done for ever. There will never bee a conclusive answer to that question. I find most people will be bias to their country or favorite plane since childhood and stick to their choice inspite to all logic.

I hope favorite does not mean best. I love them specialy World two planes. I think most had something special about them.

Here is my list just for fun.

1.Corsair
2.P51
3.NiKi George
