General discussion for CFS - the original European Air War Combat Flight Simulator

I'm glad this old boy is still alive.

I have notice a increase in activity in this forum. I"m glad this old boy is still alive. CFS1 was my first sim and will always have a place in my heart.

Its still one of the most fun to fly in. It has a immersion factor surpass only by EAW.  Its simple and direct. You just fly and shoot down as many enemy planes as possible. that simply it.

Some time thats all you want to do.

Like I have said many times before. Every Sim has its own special quality. Just enjoy what each one of them offer.

Keep it comming boys.

Only a opinion

CFS1 , for me, has atmosphere that seems to be lacking in later versions.

Also, theres loads of addons for it etc

Long live CFS1

Hi James,
I love CFS1 too, because it is simple, the graphics are adequate for the job (except for the clouds) and it has such a following and so many hundreds of planes to download.  QC is my favorite, you can set up any 'what if' scenario in your mind and play it out in QC.  Also because CFS1 does not need a top line PC to run on, you can download hundreds of planes to your hanger and it does not eat up too much memory.

CFS1 forever. ;D

It will always have a place in my heart too James. It has a nice atmosphere when I come in at the B17s in my Fw190A8 and hold down the space bar and ripping off tiny peices of metal and it goes down. It doesn't use up much memory either, it's the most FPS freindly sim I've seen in my whole life. It was pretty good considering it was MS's first CFS! The explosions are more realistic than the CFS2 ones. I hope I will play CFS1 again soon. Forgot to mention the air raid sirens on the ground! They rule!
