Are the stock planes considered to model well,
the speed and climbing ability of the real things ?

Mine seem to have intake blockages...

Read somewhere the P51 took between 5 and 6 minutes to reach 20,000 feet...
haven't done a check yet :)
what was the most efficient climb airspeed I wonder ?

They're reasonable flight models for the time of the game.
There are better models in newer games.

Afraid I've wandered from the fold by picking up a $10 IL2
and now BoB with huge  update download in progress :)
BoB WoV looks like the next late Christmas pressie :)

My first love is CFS1 it may be old simple and prehistoric but, for player interaction, I reckon it's still the most fun.

Having said that, I've got into IL2 FB, AEP and PF as well so I can learn it for next April (...ish) when they're bringing out BoB (Battles of Britain) and that may finally tempt me from the CFS fold.
