Imported AC in campaigns yet again.

Must've been asked thousand times already but since I haven't found all encompassing answer yet,  here it comes again: how on earth do you add and change the default CFS planes to something else in campaigns? I'm sick and tired of some lousy planes vs. 'cheating' AI situation and would like equalize the odds. I tried K.Baffords editor but couldn't make heads or tails of it  (being rather computer ill-literate). And please, don't just tell  to practise more: believe me, I have been doing nothing but that for past few days. Thanx and sorry for troubling with such an old issue :(

You can edit missions manually in Notepad. The aircraft used in a mission will be listed under [unit_type.x] headers. Here's an example from a default mission.

[unit_type.0]
type_id=3103
unit_family=1
name=P51d
allegiance=3
gun_ammo=1880
cannon_ammo=0
rocket_load=10
bomb_load=0
addons=0000000000000000000000000000000

This entry is for the default P51d. To change it replace the name with the exact folder name of another installed aircraft. If you try it please make a backup copy of the original mission first.

OK, got that but still can't quite figure this out. You see, I'm trying to switch the stock 109E to a 3rd party 109E-7. They go with the same name; all you had to do was to add the panel and the sounds of the the stock plane to the new one to make it run, which it did, in Freeflight and Quickcombat. But their .dp files are identical with sim=Bf 109e string, so just changing the id doesn't work.

Nevermind- got it :D Just took some more renaming and tweaking.
Now we're talking: 2x13mm + 2x7.92 +1x20mm plus better maneuverability. Still no match to Hurricanes and Spitfires in a turn fight but at least it won't stall so damn easily anymore (Ace/100%)

Hi try this one:Open aircraft cfg file.Part of it might look like that:
[fltsim.0]
title=Messerschmitt Bf 109E-gelbe2
sim=Bf109e
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=
checklists=Bf109e_CHECK
Copy the title into the mis file as prescribed in the first reply. -Good luck-
