Substitute Player Aircraft in Campaign

Is it possible to substitute an "add-on" aircraft for the designated player aircraft in a campaign or mission ?
If so, I would be grateful for any help and directions to accomplish this.  Thanks........

no idea on your issue as I have long moved on to "3", but what a great thing to see you posting after ages of being MIA, LOL.
