I have been simming for a number of years,both FS98 & CFS1 & have downloaded many add ons,with little problem.However recently I have had a problem with a previousley OK aircraft that now shows the error message Visual Model can not be displayed,I have downloaded it again & replaced it but I still have the same problem.
I have downloaded some Other aircraft & these are no problem!.
Anybody Help?.

Hi Nathern. Have you changed anything on your system recently? Some older aircraft that work fine on Win98/Me conflict with Win2000/XP. If you updated to XP they will no longer work. This can easily be fixed with a small utility. If you tell me the one you have problems with I'll check it out for you.

I am also having the same problem in FS98 & I have noticed that the aircrft concerned all are listed as FS98/CFS1/FS2000! is this the issue?.

OK.There are several versions of this aircraft. Tell me the page number you dowloaded it from so I can check it out. If it says FS98/CFS1 in the file description it should be fine. I suspect the problem is with the panel and/or sound. They might need re-aliasing. Read my Aliasing article here. http://www.simviation.com/lair/aliasing1.htm

OK. I'm going offline shortly so I'll check it out later.

In the meantime, check out the Panel & Sound CFG files of the problem aircraft. Some aircraft are aliased to another version by the same designer. If you don't have this one installed (or removed it) the ones aliased to it won't show up.

PS. As you're on WinXP you might like to try patching the MDL file with the MDL Repair Utility here. http://www.simviation.com/fs2000utilities_gen2.htm
This will do no harm.

I quickly checked the Mossie out in CFS2 as I don't have CFS1 installed right now. There's definitely a bug somewhere, possibly with the way it's configured as it includes a separate AI Only drone. It works fine in CFS2 if you tweak Aircraft.cfg to use the AIR file of the flyable version but this is not the ideal way over it. The AI drone might cause a problem in FS98.

This might take me while to figure out as it's been a while since I used this method of configuring aircraft & my memory ain't what it used to be. ::)

PS. From your original question the aircraft is listed on the selection menu. If this is the case the MDL Repair Utility should fix the problem. It's a conflict with WinXP. You would need to patch the MDL file of both versions. (In the model & model.ai folders)
I can't try this myself as I'm on WinMe.

OK. I've just installed CFS1. The Mossie works fine. It has its own panel & sound files so aliasing is not necessary.

I'm using WinMe & suspect your problem is the WinXP conflict I mentioned. Patching the MDL files with the utility should fix it. Make sure you patch the MDL files in both model folders.

I don't have FS98 installed & suspect the AI aircraft would cause a problem. If you wish to use this aircraft in FS98 I suggest editing Aircraft.cfg & removing the complete [fltsim.1] entry. Change the [fltsim.0] entries to recognise the flyable version. It should end up like this.

[fltsim.0]
title=Mosquito FB VI YHY
sim=mosqFB
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=

Hope this is some help.
