Gigantic Problem/Mass Confusion

Hi everyone.

I have a big problem.
I have been downloading planes for a long time which utilise auto-install.
Now that Diestaffel has closed and auto install is a rare bird, I need help with dropping aircraft into my CFS1 subfolder.
Whenever I attempt to 'drop in' it gives me a big "Can't do: Disk May Be Full or Write-Protected" sign.
I attempted to use aircraft converter but I recieved a "1 error" message and the whole thing was shut down.
Arrrrrrrgh!
What do I do?
Bezz

(hopefully I wil be ;D)

Bezz, old man, good to see your still around and Happy New Year,
Here at "Simviation", in the 'Help' section, there is a tutorial titled "FS Aircraft Installation". It gives an illistrated, step by step instructions on how to add aircraft to CFS. I thought that there was a 'Utility' for that but after searching the 'Utilities' section I found nothing.
One other thing, the 'aircraft converter' supplied in CFS1 is for converting FS98 aircraft for use in CFS1 and works automatically.

Bezz,
One more thing that might be helpful, I use the 'copy-paste' method for moving folders aound. It works the best for me.

Bezz,
Leave a post here if everything goes o.k. or if you have a problem, we can work it out.

I suspect you're trying to install the files to your CD ROM drive. This is not possible which is why you're getting the error message. Look for the Combat Flight Simulator folder on your C: drive. The converter is only used to install FS5 aircraft to CFS.
Although I configure my own downloads as auto-install due to popular demand I would never trust them or use them to install stuff to my own sims. It's much better to learn to do this properly in the first place. It occurs to me that if you had done this when you first started you would not have this problem now.

I always install everything myself. My sim is in the default location:- C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Combat Flight Simulator

Hi Bezz. Hope you got everything sorted out. It's really not that difficult once you get the general idea. You know where to come if you get stuck.
Relying on auto-install files or install utilities is never a good idea. IMHO
You would be missing out on so many first class downloads for one thing & what happens when you have problems? Not all auto-installs are idiot-proof by a long chalk. At least if you installed it yourself you know where to start looking.
