I have my CFS setup to run without a CD just off my HD but when I try to get on the Zone, it says it doesn't detect CFS on my system. How can I overcome this?

I believe CFS needs to read the CD to connect to the Zone. My best suggestion is to do a duplicate install purely to use online. Rename your Combat Flight Simulator folder to any other name. Then insert the CD & install to the default path in the usual way. You will now have 2 separate installs of CFS1 that will run independently. Create a desktop shortcut to run the original. Let the last install run from the CD.

Isn't that defeating the purpose of not having to use the CD in the first place? Isn't there any other way to connect without the CD?

It seems they have substituted the CFS1 crack for the CFS2 crack. Probably because their squad has moved to CFS2. After some searching in past posts, i've found this link that pete had posted some time ago.
http://blake.prohosting.com/fsalpha/Frehed/index.htmIt is a tutorial on how to configure CFS1 for no CD using a hex editing program. Or you can email me at:
tj_gumby@hotmail.com and i'll send the crack to you.
