Green Seas

Postby evansgg » Wed Sep 10, 2003 8:37 pm

Hi All,
I am running CFS1 and started my Abacus Guadalcanal campaign. My ships are floating in a green sea! Anyone else come across this? I changed resolution and density but it made no difference.

Here's your image. The path including the .jpg or .JPG file extension is case sensitive. It looks to me that the scenery has not been activated. It might be best to contact Abacus product support.

Sorry about the pic. I attempted to uninstall the Abacus products but got a missing dll message so did it manually and used regedit to clear them out. Reinstalled CFS1 without Abacus stuff and still got problems (check picture). I am wondering if it might be Direct X9.0a which I think came with my FS2004, or maybe my latest driver software for the Nvidia card GeForce2 Mx400 driver version 6.14.10.4523. Have you had trouble with either?

Evanegg. Your 2nd pic isn't showing up. If you did a simple reinstall the bad files will still be there. The only certain method is a complete uninstall, deleting the Combat Flight Simulator folder before doing a fresh install. This would mean losing all your addons unless you back them up first. If you have enough HD space you could do a duplicate install of CFS1. Simply rename the original Combat Flight Simulator folder to any other name, insert the CD & install in the usual way. You will now have 2 separate installations of CFS1 which will run independently.

I doubt this is a graphics problem.

PS. I just checked out your shot. http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/Gunsight.JPG
Look in the CFS1\Texture folder for a file named gunsight64.bmp. I suspect it's either missing or corrupt. You should be able to retrieve it from the CD.

Thankyou for that. I did a complete removal of all cfs1 and directories and a clean re install and that problem disappeared. With the green seas, I think I uninstalled one of my ABacus add ons and that might have affected the others.  I tried reinstalling just Guadalcanal and it works fine now.  I still have the crashing back to desktop using the stock missions and aircraft, but I have read that is definitely an XP problem. Going to start playing with Il-2 for a while. Thanks again.
