Goodly evening all...
Part two of Friday Harbor to Hartley Bay SPB
Part one is "You have too"...
Probably take me several more attempts to finish this simulated cross country.
This electronic gizmo seems to be working good right now.
Front Office...
An advantage of a float amphibian or seaplane amphibian over straight floats is the ability to land inland on a Land Air Strip for fuel etc.
There are also Hours of Operation for a Non-Amphibian landing and taking off on water. I am speaking of Civil Aircraft only as the Military Operates by a whole different set of Rules and Regulations, if I remember correctly "Operational Commitment" gave priority as it should.
The amphibian aircraft being either float or seaplane increases the survivability of crew, passengers and aircraft if the single engine aircraft should loose power.
A radio call and landing on water/ice or snow if on wheel/skis will probably save the aircraft and the cost of repairs should be much lower if the aviator does not find a bush strip or suitable turf to put the aircraft down on.
As you can see the weather visibility wise is not the greatest...believe me it is like that in real flying more times than enough.
But another advantage of an amphibian is I can land on just about any body of water within reason and wait for the weather to clear.
Carry a deck of cards and have yourself a picnic while waiting...
Is it me or are those hills getting closer to my gear
Comments and Advice most welcome....
