Swamping in a Stoneboat...Part 1

Decided to do a short Cross Country non direct simulated flight which ended in OH POOP...that's in Part 2
Swamping is one of the terms we use for Float or Seaplane Flying.
Many years ago small flying companies started off with a single float plane or seaplane...land next to a swamp was usually cheap and who wanted to live next to a swamp.

A DeHavilland of Canada DHC-3 Otter has been commonly called a Stoneboat because it can haul almost anything within reason.
I have seen us load it until the back of the floats were under water...it flew
Best STOL single engine aircraft bar none...that is why they are worth their weight in gold and talks are underway about building them again.

Departure: Nanaimo (CYCD)
Destination: Big Bay (CAF6)
British Columbia, Canada
Flew over Nanaimo Water Aerodrome (CAC8), Nanaimo/Long Lake Seaplane Base (CAT3) and several other Seaplane Bases but the weather made it impossible to see any of the small Seaplane Bases.
Departing Nanaimo...Flaps in Take-Off Position
Flottering along...Otters on Amphibious and Straight Floats are called "Flotters"
Sky is active...
#4 & #5 shots some lightning and cockpit
Flight could start getting interesting...
You can see the Oil Filler Cap just below and to the right of the Pilots door. There are 3 Fuel Filler Caps and the Otter has 4 Fuel Cells in the belly of the aircraft. The DHC-2 Beaver and the DHC-3 Otter have the ability to install Fuel Tanks in the Wings. Floats which can carry fire retardant can also be installed on both aircraft.
