Goodly morning all.... <<q

I have one more Leg to Fly to finish my Simulated Flight...

I can't believe how hard it is to find the time for some Flight Simming...

Today we are going for a Brunch at the Bugsmasher Field...usually we try to get together on the weekends but this upcoming weekend forecast is for rain, sleet and snow both days.

The last three days here the outside temperature has been hovering from Minus 17 Celsius to Minus 26 Celsius without the wind chill...so today is the day we chose to go... ;)

Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX and Windows 10

I try to take most of my Downloads from our own Simviation Download Site which is excellent... ;)

FSWC...Flight Simulator Water Configurator
REX Essential Plus Overdrive (set to my textures)
Flight 1...Ultimate Terrain X Canada
Flight 1...Ground Environment X USA Canada Alaska
Orbx...FTX: Global Base
Orbx...FTX: Global Vector
Orbx...FTX: Global openLC North America-Alaska/Canada
Aircraft: Awesome4Some DC3 available right here at Simviation Download Site
Livery: C-ANDY & N-190A are Repaints a New Zealand Simviation Member did for me...Also available at our Simviation Download Site
Thanks Again Andy 190 ;)
Still can't figure out how you New Zealanders and Aussies don't fall off the Earth when you all walk Upside Down...down there

Departure: Timmins "CYTS"
Arrival: Toronto/Buttonville "CYKZ" soon to be closed to build Condos... :o
Winter, early morning and today's weather....

Not a lot to see, still flying several hours north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada...this new Orbx scenery has not impressed me yet, of course when all there is to see is Trees, Lakes, Beaver Ponds, Streams and Rivers, perhaps my last Leg of the simulated flight will have more scenery as the simulated flight ends at Toronto Buttonville Airport, Ontario. As I mentioned before this wonderful airport is about to be closed, the farm land ruined and Condos/Homes built... :o

Andy's cockpit...the two controls on the starboard side, one red and one green are for the Cowl Flaps...The red one is for the Port engine and the Green one is for the Starboard engine, the same colour as the Navigation Lights on either wing... ;)

Comments and Advice most welcome... ;)

There is a war going on over the compatibility of these products;
Ultimate Terrain X
Ground Environment X / GEX V2
&
Orbx...FTX: Global Base
Orbx...FTX: Global Vector
Orbx...FTX: Global openLC

The problem seems to be that the opposing forces - UTX/GTX on one side, and Orbx/FTX on the other side, state that the other side is incompatible with their product.

GEX says that it's Orbx's fault.

Orbx says that all of their parts interact, and depend on each other, and that the GEX products interfere with the way that the other parts work together.

GEX explicitly states that the two are not compatible.

Orbx explicitly states that the two are not compatible in their Users Guide. PDF DOWNLOAD LINK

The battle lines are VERY clear

The GEX/UTX users state that THEIR programs are the best.

The Orbx/FTX users state that THEIR programs are the best.

In a few cases, some users say that the two products WILL work together, IF you pay careful attention to placement order. But not always.

Thanks to an AVSIM member here is an eight part set of videos that will help you decide for yourself. :shifty:

FULL COMPARISON PLAYLIST

To clearly see the difference, it would be best to watch it on eight monitors at the same time.

Alternately (as the eight set consists of two distinct flights) you could use just four monitors.

In the End

Both groups of programs do the same king of thing - they control what you see on the ground.

They don't work well when mixed.

Depending on placement in the scenery list, one, or another, may take precedence over the other at different times & places.

For you to see the difference you'd have to uninstall one, and then the other. Basically - use only one set at a time.

My biased choice.

I fly the entire world. From China to South Africa. From Egypt to Scotland. From Rio de Janeiro to Death Valley. From Alaska to Hawaii. From Australia to India.

Having just one scenery system works best for me.

To me, the Orbx/Vector/openLC Canada looks absolutely GREAT!

I'm hoping that I haven't steered you wrong.

Thanks for the reply Sir and your information is always most welcomed... ;)

Now I just did a STUPID thing...

Finishing the Last Leg of the Simulated Cross Country the Old Girl came in and told me breakfast was ready.

Not thinking, I went to Save Flight and for some unknown reason I hit the Delete Button.

Never even thought about it until I went to close out FSX...went back to check and it was gone...

I just finished Clearing out my Log Bin and doing a "C" Cleaner and Disk Clean Up several times...now sometime in the not to distant future I shall get back at programming another Simulated Flight...

I feel your pain. I''m lucky if I get to fire up the sim every other weekend these days.
