I see these aircraft pretty much on a daily basis as they grace the skies here yet the 4 of them now again (loud aircraft). They were also deployed to the Middle East about 2 years ago, and all returned home safely. The 115th WANG (Wisconsin Air National Gaurd) still going strong. Based out of Dane County Regional-Truax Field Madison Wisconsin. It was like 4 years ago one fell from the skies, mechanical failure over a Restricted Zone. I also have the F-16 in my library of aircraft with a few Tail Flashes of the 115th. I really don't fly the aircraft that much, but there are occasins I'll hop in the F-16 and take it up and fly to the other bases here in Wisconsin, and fly the Restricted areas for Military Operations.

I only have one other jet in my library the F-86 Dog Sabre, I've always enjoyed flying that one as well. It was very well done.

Thanks for posting the shots, really enjoyed.

Hi Bass,
I agree with Sprocket, shot number three is really impressive. I'm not much of an Air Force fan, being retired Navy, but right after 911 we had a couple of them operating out of MSP and I must admit watching those F-16's roaring off into the blue sure did give me a warm and fuzzy.

If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.

I hear ya! I retired back in December of '91.

I wonder what would happen if a real F-16 landed on a carrier, besides having to be craned off, I mean? Do you recall the traditional treatment if a Navy pilot/crew lands on the wrong carrier? I wonder what would happen to an USAF bird? Hmmm

As CHUCK told me in that post, and i'm sure too, the gears will break down and you'll end on your belly
We dont have any carriers, so i dont know the traditional treatment, but i'm sure it'll be something like crossing equator the first time for any sailors!! Not very pleasant.....

The gear might not break the first time......it definitely wouldn't stand up to repetition though

You made me laugh thinking about being initiated into the Loyal Order of Shellbacks. The second and third times weren't any easier on the Shellback end of things. In the U.S.Navy the tradition also includes what we call "Pollywogs Revenge" which usually occurs spontaneously the evening BEFORE crossing the line. The bloody Wogs attack King Neptune's loyal Shellbacks with all sorts of disgusting indignities and booby traps. But loyal Shellbacks have long memories and upon crossing the Equator and passing into their territory they exact Davy Jone's Revenge upon the worthless, bottom feeding Wogs with trials and tribulations unbeknown to lowly landlubbers. You can imagine how much hell breaks out on an aircraft carrier with 5,000 Wogs and only about 500 loyal Shellbacks. On the way back it's far worse if there are some new people who have come aboard after the crossing. 5,500 Shellbacks vs ? Oh it can get ugly.

Also in the aviation portion of the U.S.Navy is a standing tradition dating back at least to WW2. If one of our intrepid "Nasal Asiators" errs and lands on the wrong aircraft carrier he is immediately subjected to unmerciful harassment and his aircraft is adorned with graffiti from nose to tail. I actually saw it happen once. One of our F-14 jocks from either VF-142 or 143 aboard the Eisenhower landed in the Independence by mistake. On the Eisenhower we all thought "How the hell can you mistake a fossil burner for a nuke?" When the aircraft came back to Ike the next day it was totally covered in spray painted graffiti. Guess who got to clean it up? As amazingly as it was to all of us enlisted types it was the pilot and RIO who got the task.
