Downloading FTX: Global VECTOR now

FTX: Global VECTOR is now available.

What should take only a few minutes is estimated at 14 minutes. Some of the download links estimated up to 12 hours! :o

The actual time (instead of estimated) looks to be longer.

So far I'm underwhelmed.

Their official website has people giving it high praise.

In the Philadelphia region where I fly the most, I don't see much difference at all.

The Commodore Berry Bridge south of Philadelphia.

There was a comment about the size of the download file, and Orbx's response made me think that there's more to come.

I checked out in Southern California where people are saying that it looks great, But I don't fly there, so I can't say.

Just my luck!

BTW - that sports stadium just past the bridge? It's an outdoor concert arena.

There was a problem with FTX Vectors' instillation. Although all other Orbx software installs to the proper Windows junction linked Orbx directory in FSX (on the secondary drive), Vector breaks that link and installs on the C: drive.

Not a problem, now that I know about it. I just have to move the files to the linked Orbx folder on the E: drive & reestablish the junction link.

This is the real VECTOR image of the Commodore Berry Bridge south of Philadelphia.

As you can see there are some improvements. The railroad tracks in particular.

BTW - That "football" stadium just past the bridge? It's actually an outdoor concert stadium.

That scene doesn't show all that much improvement so here's two more from Bader Field (KAIY) in Atlantic City, Ney Jersey.

As you can see in both of these there's a big improvement with the shore line. The second picture shows the wide sandy beach that runs along the Atlantic City casino area.

The real Atlantic City beach. When you consider this that is just one area of the Orbx world, this isn't all that bad.

Are you still underwhelmed OldAirMail?

I tried there Iceland demo, but ORBX makes no bones about the fact that they DO NOT support DX10! There Iceland Global demo was full of anomalies using DX10!

However I do own four Orbx regions, PNW, PFJ, NCA and my favorite SAK plus ALL the airports for these regions with little or no problems using DX10!

Happy flying,

Greg

I have Orbx FTX Global, and Vector. Both are FAR better now than they were.

As I wrote elsewhere - I now consider them as second in importance only to a good yoke or joy stick.

Once out side of the Icelandic cities, the demo is great.

I also have the UK, Scotland, Wales, and all four of the Australian sections.

When the Landclass sections come out, I'll probably get those too.

I guess that I'm an Orbx fan boy now.

These pictures are from P3d with only FTX Global & Vector.

That second shot is phenomenal!

Recently purchased NCA region with my hometown airport and favorite fishing hole...more like a pond that is pretty accurately rendered! I am

blown away!

Happy flying,

Greg

Nice shots :)

There are some parts of the world that are so poorly rendered in FSX and P3D that they just weren't worth bothering with..........South America and the Falkland Isles spring to mind.

How do they look with the Orbx Stuff added?
