May be some old news

I read that tuning the screen resolution to 16 colors instead of 32 increases FPS without any graphic loss.

In my case I went from 1440X900X32 to 1440X900X16.

I tried this quickly and the performance jump is massive. I use to do 30-35FPS around Hamilton. now average jumps between 50-55 FPS.

Haven't test the theory much.

You can see the difference, slightly, but I'm going to have to try this.

[color=#000000]I tried it too Shane. Not only did I not see an increase, I actually saw a loss of about 4 fps. Also, there is a very slight improvement when locked around 60 over set unlimited. Weird huh?

There is a considerable graphics lost, the only question is does the eye notice all of it (it won't) and what you do notice may not bother you.

In a way it's no different to turning down features or turning them off, which will give a more dramatic reduction in quality.

So perhaps a good way of getting some usuable power back with less of a visual impact.....everything there just a little less detailed is better than top detail with half the features turned off. 8-)

Do take note that you only change this setting in FSX and not via properties on the desktop.
