I wish they all could be Caledonian...

Postby todayshorse » Mon Jun 30, 2008 8:06 am

Yep, another 747, this time a -2D3B of that once great airline, British Caledonian. Unless your of a certain age, you wont remember the adverts on TV with the 'Caledonian Girls' - worth a look on Youtube, for a laugh if anything!

Just the alphas to do on this beauty!

The BOAC is currently uploading to CLS but if im allowed ill stick it on AVSIM as well later, for those who may be interested!

Beautiful livery though IMO....

Cheers! I found it on the internet somewhere during the usual search i do for info and pictures and stuff! It was a good one because it was already nice and big instead of a little tiny thing!

That would be Caledonian Airways....... .that is after BA took it over and renamed BA Airtours .

Unless of course it was earlier and a DC 10 :-/

Thats an interesting point! I was trying to think of a BCAL tristar, but i hadnt come across any in my search. Plenty of Dc-10's though. Did BA take over the DC-10's? Ive come across the odd DC-10 repaint in BA livery, though sometimes wondered if they were a 'what if' but i guess they could have used them for a short while before offloading them....

I did always think the BA livery suited the TriStars, but they didnt seem to have them that long did they?

BA kept the DC 10's for a while based at Gatwick

I always found the BA livery looked awkward on the tail due to the engine position

The BCAL 747 paint looks very nice......beautifully sharp 8-)

Cheers Garry, im very pleased with it though the engines are causing me a bit of a headache!! Must be on the 10th go now and they keep coming out too dark - trust me to choose one with GE engines with the most highly polished finish ever!

But yeah, the tail on the DC-10 is somwhat odd looking!
