The very First.....

747! Yes my friends, another 747 !! (groan! i here you all say)

This in fact is the very first 747, the roll-out model, first flight and all that (actualy next year i think it will be 40 years since its first flight! 40 Years!

The eagle eyed amongst you will note she is not in rollout colours however, with all the shiny bits and airline launch customer logos. No, i found a website with several piccys of her looking a bit sad for herself with her engines missing.

And these are the colours she wears now, bar a few logos i havent done yet! But apparently they do still use her, most recently for engine tests for the 777 i think i read, which is why she has no engines.....although they did appear to be on the ground underneath her wings!

Bit of work to do which im doing concurrently with the BOAC jobby, but im quite liking these, now i have a proper good looking 747-200 (made into a 100) to play with ;D

Although i dont really know what engines to shod her with - these are PW's at the mo, anyone knows what shes ran with id be interested to hear - i know the RR trents been on here at some point going by the logos!

Now ill shut up and watch the replies stay at zero :D ;

The Seattle Museum of Flight has the Prototype Boeing 747-121. I saw it last fall, and took this photo

Oooo! Great stuff! Have you any more? It appears she has her engines back on here....and she looks a little bit cleaner. But only a little bit.

As you have stood right next to her, how shiny is the belly just out of interest? I know photos dont often capture this, in the ones i have its almost a rusty colour, but here its back to not quite roll out mirror finish, but certainly more aluminium colour!

Do you mind me taking this photo and saving it on my hard drive for repaint purposes?

Of course you can save and use it. I've got a few more that I'll dig up and upload. Nothing too spectacular as there wasn't enough room outside to be able to get the wide angled photos I wanted, but oh well

To be honest, I don't remember how shiny the belly is.

You were also asking about the engines. Unfortunately, I this is the best I can come up with. Probably one of the most useless photos I have....

LOL ive already got about 30 other photos of it since these, from those sources! Several have revealed 'missing' bits from the first attempt, including getting the colours completley wrong on the lettering - never would have known it was a quite light shade of blue, it appears black in most photos id seen previously ;D
