Still stuck in 'spitfire' mood, wonderd what else i could come up with using some WWII aircraft, and settled on the C-47...

No pre-amble, no story, just wanted to capture some atmosphere. A litte too light for the D-Day paratroop drop before the initial landings i feel, but i like them anyway

I may have just nudged the 600k limit so i apologise, but i didnt take enough for 'two parts'

I just love this set. Very nice.

Nice looking set Horse. I get tired of looking at jets all the time. Like to see more of these old birds. They are a lot more relaxing to fly and watch the world pass by beneath you.

So true. I love being able to hop into an aircraft, flip a few switches, set mixture/propellor controlls, fire it up, taxi out to the runway while watching out for the occasional bugsmasher doing pattern circuits, and taking off to fly wherever I want 8-)

So much more relaxing that going through a long, complicated startup checklist, and than navigating through busy airports and busy airspaces, ect

Not that I don't occasionally fly an IFR flightplan with a small business jet, but I don't fly large commercial airliners very often

If I do want to fly something big, I'll fly a B-17/24, DC-3/4/6, B-247, ect. Being able to complete an IFR cross country flight in one of those is so much more challenging and rewarding than an aircraft with a glass cockpit, GPS, and a fancy autopilot that will fly and navigate the aircraft for you

I cant recall how i came across it, it may have been seeing it here i think. Not sure. Its pretty detailed, although im not so keen on the way the cockpit glass works but i think thats fixable  -  other than that shes a beauty!

Ive been flying quite a lot of props lately, i think mainly due to the contest, and downloading all manner of heinkels, stukas, and so on and then flying around in them

I guess i should have worded that differently - i meant the cockpit windows - they dont seem to 'look' like windows, if you catch my drift

lol, I see what you mean now. I just can't picture a DC-3 cockpit with computer display monitors instead of old 1940 era gauges....
