...........modifying the latest GEX/FSX night textures. The defaults and the GEX textures are way too yellow/orange and they were a bit hazy so I reprocessed them getting rid of the nasty orange glow that depressed me about FSX, sharpened them up and remasked, reconstructed the intersection lights so they are much better lit, and then recompressed them back to DXT1 and installed.




The city looks ALIVE now, full of color with the right temp and variety of light, and best of all,.. is not under a gloom of burnt orange I HATED for so long

Looks pretty cool Nick but then again most the stuff you do is simply amazing! They usually involve the most simple things, no one thinks of or cares about but when you see the difference it completely floores you. I had that - and still have - with your light fixes and your touchdown effects; they are just too gorgeous!

Although I don't have FSX installed (I actually don't have any sim installed at the moment ) and I can't tell the difference. But I've seen the difference between the original and your version and it indeed looks different, less saturated. I can't tell you if it looks realistic as a. I am not a pilot in real life and b. I'm usually not flying at night in a city ... I like bushflying in a crappy old plane during the day.

But this looks very nice and when I ever get around to install FSX on a new machine I would like to give your textures a try.

BTW: are you ever planning to continue your water? Be it for FS9 or FSX?

Hi, looks awesome Nick. How about asking the GEX guys if they'd like to host your 'interpretation' of their textures as an optional free download? They may well be as impressed as we are and say yes  :) They might even want to use yours instead of theirs....and you might see a few $$  :)

Yeah, not very nice of Nick to tease us like that .
Hopefully, Anthony will allow him to offer an UL as it  really brings the GEX night textures to life!
As it stands now, I really like the GEX day textures but dislike the night textures.

thats gotta be a permanent available!!
