Flying over the endless flatness of the Northern Territories in the Piper Cub at a speed of 1400 km/h or so (sim rate x16) was a good way of getting the 'boring bit' of my VOZ 1 tour done... see here for a glittering, stunning reminder

Fun story, weird bird though, but it will definitely get you there fast. Having driven across Oz on several occasions, I can tell you have wished for double/triple..more speed on lots of occasions.
As for rain in Tennant Creek, it happens, they have two 'seasons': the dry and the...you guessed it!
Crossing rivers can be fun at that time, as there are no bridges in a lot of cases....

I've seen Pavel Taran with my own eyes...The Tu-160 is such a magnificent aircraft 8-)
