I'd been looking forward to meeting Spyro, but suddenly my priorities had changed.

I felt weak, dizzy and nauseous, and the colours all around me were shifting, changing, becoming more and more extreme - you need a darkened room to see them...

"My God, Roger, what is happening to me!" cried my poor grandad in distress.

I felt so bad that I'd subjected him to this...."That waiter must have put something in our food. He was probably going to rob us later in our room!"

The colours around us became so bright they stabbed my synapses like a white hot knife. They were odious and disgusting.
I was hearing gutteral babbling voices from all directions, and the wings seemed to be melting like cheese slices on the radiator.

The radio in the Chippie didn't seem to be working so I got my mobile out. 'Spyro, Spyro!! We're nearly at Venice but I'm hallucinating something terrible. I can hardly keep control of the plane and we're probably going to come down in the lagoon as there's no way I can put this down on any runway in this state!

I couldn't understand what Spyro said at all, he seemed to be wailing and shrieking like a demented gibbon, but maybe that was my grandad or the demonic figures standing on the wings and gibbering toothsomely into the cockpit through the glass... I just prayed Spyro got the message, and started losing height and aiming for the lagoon. There was a bright white path ahead lighting my way, like an angelic bridge through the fires of hell.

We came down with a great SPLOSH into the water.

I don't know how we survived the crash landing, another of my 9 lives used up (my Grandad crashed twice in the desert during the war so he took it in his stride) but the last thing I saw was some grotesque yellow blob descending from a blood red sky like a hawk to gobble me up.

I screamed and clawed at the cockpit walls... and then all mercifully went black.
