Wonderful shots, but what's with those fins on the rockets? Are they transparant?

No they are suppose to be like that.  ;)

That MiG-29 is carrying AA-12 Adder missiles, they have a "grid" type fin in the back....too long to explain but basicially they make the missile easier to turn at high speed and create less drag.
