Well it's that time of year again, long nights & time to wrap up warm.

Just the right time for another short Alaska hop from Antelope Trail Ranch  to Big Bear Mountain Ranger Station. The rangers are gripped in the middle of what they call a 'Liquid Emergency' - IE: they've run out of whisky  ::)

One of the first glaciers I have come across on this trip:


My first attempt at landing, came in too high & too fast whilst trying to get a nice pic - had to make a hasty go around & try again - the runway is covered in snow so you almost have to stall the plane at the runway threshold in order to be able to stop in time:


The rangers don't mind if you bend a prop & shock the engine in the wall of ice at the end of the runway - but there'll be h3ll to pay if any of the whisky bottles get broken  :-[

The first ones are great sunset 'crowd-pleasers' - looks like a lovely flight. We had our first snow on November 1st this year - earliest I've ever seen in the Czech Republic. Krigl very angry, very cross indeed  >:(
