Interesting aircraft. This type of aircraft design blocks the passenger's view with the engine. I don't know what is the advantage.

They want good engine-out performance. Just as the RJ85/100s.
But chose 2 large turbofans instead of four. Putting those on a low wing aircraft would be impossible.
The design is more sturdy and robust compared to the CRJs and Embraers, which suits russian airfields better. Big undercarriage.

The we always have the high wing anhedral factor vs low wing dihedral. but I'm sure the fine engineers at Antonov designed accounted for that.

IMHO, this aircraft is a beauty.  :)

I like the AN-148...I've seen it once doing fly-by's in Khartoum, Sudan...and then it came in for quite possibly the shortest landing I had ever seen...Very cool bird... 8) 8)

Um, Betaing?  Never heard it ;)

I really like the looks of the AN-148.  Its a lot like the BAe 146 or the Dornier 328 Jet (actually its almost identical to the 328, just bigger engines).  It flies nicely in the sim, a little slower than most commercial jets (.70 mach at 25000 feet), and I need some more practice landing it (I must have been going to fast when I tried to land, floated halfway down the runway).

If anyone is interested in getting it, go to http://www.samdim.free.fr.  It has no VC, but the panel is nice and written in english as well as cyrillic.  Unfortunately the panel that comes with it is metric, which could be confusing for those of us that fly using imperial, but a nice fellow uploaded a panel on Avsim thats the same as the one that comes with it only the gauges (except the fuel) reads out in Imperial.

Someone needs to do some repaints....

Still it is a pretty easy aircraft to fly. Metric isn't so bad. You don't need to learn Cyrillic or how to use an Autonomous Navigation System (NAS-1).

I don't think there are many people on this forum knowing so much about civil aircraft...

Well, thank you  :)

I guess I've picked a few things here and there  ;D
But wing designs are something you learn in basic PPL classes, at least in the EU    :)

IMHO, Ivan is without question the expert on russian ships here!

And that was... the An-74-300, not this plane (although it looks almost the same)
