Round the Poles- leg 1, part 8-end of leg 1

When ATC finally clears me to descend, I try to get down quickly.

The airport is VFR, but as soon as I level off at 2000 I'm in the soup.
     Image

ATC vectors me towards the runway, and soon enough I think I can just barely see it.

"Runway in sight"...and time to dump flaps and gear.

I need to stop using the autopilot so much: my final is a little jittery. The crosswind isn't helping, either...
Image

A little more airspeed will keep me closer to the centerline next time... but not a bad landing, really.

A look at ATC's vectors to final; not too roundabout this time... and a look at the entire course. Had a decent amount of fuel left when I arrived, but I have to cut the consumption down more for upcoming legs.

Yes- 310L, to be precise. ;D

So when do you plan to take Casper for the same hop? ;D

LOL!
Casper would probably not make it to Jacksonville, let alone the South  Pole. There would be a trail of parts the whole way... ;D
One of these days I'll do a RTW in FS9 in something really slow like that... maybe. ;D

I fly from takeoff to touchdown on autopilot. ;D

You mean the autopilot flies from takeoff to touchdown... ::)  ;D

Seriously, though- how do you manage that? The only FS model I've found with autoland is the VC10, and it certainly won't take off by itself.

The Moach 737 has autoland, also the PMDG has effectively automatic take off, all you ave to do is pull the stick back and put on autopilot.

You can do it with the defualt 737.

On take-off I just have the aircraft trimmed and auto-throttle engaged. Once I'm airborne I punch in the altitude and heading hold. On approach I just use ILS hold. Then auto-brake.

Although you might have to punch off ILS hold during flare, so there is a little flying involved.

I gotta get the payware models with full auto-land to fix that. ;D
