June 6, 1944...

Postby Jakemaster » Mon Mar 13, 2006 4:20 pm

Early in the morning, the C-47 is prepped for its flight accross the channel
Image
We take off, and flying low head towards the french coast
Image
The men on board are scared, looking out the windows for what may be the last time
Image
The french coast comes into view from the cockpit, the men get ready to jump
Image
The door is opened, and the men are scared, but brave, and ready to jump into combat
Image
After the drop, we bank away and pull up to get out before we are shot down
Image
And finally, we head home, praying for the safety of the soilders we just dropped
Image

Hope you enjoyed!

I was gonna say... yes, the weather that day was lousy, and many jump-planes and glider-towers got quite lost. Some airborne units found themselves on the ground not exactly where they planned...:P
But they chose the right plane for the job... nice tribute, Jake!

LOL thanks guys.  Ya, I know that I was completely wrong on the weather, but i took what Real World weather gave me LOL.  Also, I flew from Dover to Calais and back, and thats not where the allies invaded, although they did have a Mock army at dover to confuse the germans.
