The captain decides to keep it just above 10,000 for a little while, to take advantage of the wind until they change course. Elk Mountain crawls towards them, looming out of the haze hugging the plain.
"Pretty", the copilot murmurs.
"Hm," the captain grunts in response. "Let me know as soon as you have the Laramie beacon."

Their course will take them around the northern extremity of the Medicine Bow  Mountains, following Interstate 80 all the way to Laramie.

The captain guides the ship close by the enormous peak so the passengers can have a good look at it. As they leave it behind, the stewardess approaches the flight deck.
"You did see that mountain, right?" she asks dryly.
"I'm not sure," says the FO. "Maybe we need some more coffee..."

The land begins to fall away before them. They have the beam from Laramie, and the highway, but the skipper begins to wonder if he's going to spot the field in time.

Soon they're approaching the town, and the airport appears, a speck of open ground a few miles east of the lake.

There's little traffic here today, and the wind on the surface is more southerly... they make a long straight-in approach, curving away from the highway towards the runway.

A textbook landing... and it looks like they might just make the 1155 departure time...
