KMDW-KMIA

Postby Alphajet_Enthusiast » Fri Dec 30, 2005 2:21 am

I am now about halfway, but I will already post shots of the start and cruise of the flight.

Taxiing to the active. Scenery is FlyTampa! Chicago Midway

Right after takeoff

Climbing through the first layer of clouds, the second is up ahead! Thats why its too bad the Level-D sevensix doesnt have WX... ;)
Image

Between the two layers, its still early.

And we've cleared the clouds.

Hope you like the shots.
I might get up some of the approach and landing later! :)

Just a few questions which I know Nexus can answer! :)
Is there any 767 fuel planning software? I used the flight planner and PSS A330 fuel planner to try and get an insight into how much fuel was needed. ;D I left with 30,000 tonnes of fuel and am due to arrive with 4,600 left, im not sure if this is a realistic figure so im keeping a close watch on my fuel consumption.
Also, is it worth getting a 3rd party route planner? Because sometimes I have my doubts about the default flight planner...  ;)

Great shots.  What weather (cloud) program is that?

Great shots! I would've loved some VC- rather than panelshots though. ;)

Yes yes, I do see the last shot, but since the LD767 has such a nice, clickable AND FPS friendly VC, I barely ever get out of it when flying. :)

Well, fuel planning is a very advanced and complex thing to do. But get this: your fuel supply should cover
The flight to your destination (duh ::) )
An approach attempt
Go on to the most alternate and fly after that for 45mins at normal cruise

So the typical fuel profile for a flight would include sufficient fuel for the following
1) Takeoff and climb at T/O thrust
2)climb to initial cruise altitude at maximum continous thrust
3) En route cruise, including intermediate step climbs
4) Descent to a diversion point (go around point) over the destination aerodrome
5) Route contingency fuel
6) Diversion to an alternate aerodrome
7) An instrument approach and landing
8] An additional amount of holding fuel may be required if the destination is an island with no alternatives OR if you are arriving at a major airport at its busiest period...like Heathrow between 0700 and 0900

For my next flight then Nexus, this bird is down safely! ;D By the time I'd finished taxiing had 3 tonnes left...
Thanks for the pointers!  :)

Ecko, you're right the VC is absolutely fantastic but I like to have access to the overhead switches etc without having to worry that the landing lights switch is blocking my view of the nav lights switch etc...  ;) Also the FMC buttons are easier to reach and the FMC is easier to read in the 2D..

However, once in cruise I only sit in the VC, it looks awesome!  :) :)

Yes, it's always good to be right at the buttons if something should happen! :o Especially if you've programmed failures in the Level-D menu. ;D

Thanks for that info Nexus, very useful! :)

Probably not!  ;D
However, ever tried flying an empty 767 with only a fifth fuel in the tanks?
Imagine (how many was it again?) Super Hornets strapped to you a$$, a 7000 foot runway is a piece of cake! (I had more than a third to spare at V2! :))

Thanks for the comments!  :)
